Cammell Laird staff rewarded for safe working
As part of Cammell Laird ongoing commitment to drive safety from the top, Tony Potter, HSEQ Director and Dreadnought Submarines New Build Director Jeff Jones have been undertaking ‘safety walkabouts’ this month.
They are both out to find and encourage an employee doing things in the right way, with the right tools and the right attitude. One worker excelling in his role is welder Tyler Duffy who is working on the Dreadnought units in Bay 15. Tony Potter said Tyler was observed working with all the correct PPE on, carrying out his job safely in a diligent manner.
“His work area was kept clean and tidy and he had arranged his tools in such a way that he would not only not compromise his own personal safety, but it would also not impinge on others working in the area. Tyler’s Supervisor, Steve Archbold was called and his general approach to work was discussed with him. Steve stated that he is one of the most improved workers in his team and would fully deserve to be recognised as a Safe Worker.”
With this in mind, Tony said he invited both Tyler and his supervisor Steve to a small presentation in the Blue House Management Office to receive an impromptu award.
Tyler chose to receive an Amazon Echo and Steve received a set of Sony Blue Tooth headphones for supervising his staff in a safe and ethical manner.
