Our core production workforce is on average 1000 strong supported by excellent administration and project personnel. This core workforce can draw on an additional 200 plus skilled workers from the local labour force.
Cammell Laird further runs a successful apprenticeship programme in partnership with the Marine and Engineering College North West (MECNW). In December 2012 the firm recruited a further 18 new apprentices taking the total number in training to just below 10% of the workforce. Since 2008, 32 apprentices have successfully graduated from the training programme and have joined the company as full time employees, and have been an active part of the company’s goal to create a sustainable employment model.
Specialist subcontractors regularly on site usually account for a further 40 – 50% of the company’s tradesman. National and international subcontractors and labour agencies can further strengthen the resource pool as contractual obligations demand.
