Demonstrating our commitment to equality is an essential step towards creating a fully diverse workforce. We run one of the biggest apprenticeship courses in the region, providing young people from an array of backgrounds the opportunity to become the engineers of the future.
We’re actively involved with the Liverpool universities, with staff delivering lectures and providing year in industry placements. Working with local schools we are also able to host pupils from a range of backgrounds, providing them with a taste of what a career in engineering could involve, helping them to make informed decisions when choosing GCSE or A Level subjects.
In June, we joined forces with the Engineering College to support International Women in Engineering Day 2019. A group of 10 girls from schools and colleges in Birkenhead and surrounding areas met female engineers, toured polar research vessel RRS Sir David Attenborough and heard how an engineering apprenticeship can provide people with a huge range of career opportunities.
