Project Management and Support

Planning & Monitoring

Our Planning Department combines the latest techniques with experienced personnel.

Complex projects are regularly planned in detailed schedule format and detailed output reports are generated providing project teams and customers with vital “real time” status information.

Earned value management process (EVM) is at the basis of Cammell Laird’s project monitoring system, which has been refined over the course of the years, to support the type of bespoke projects regularly undertaken.

Project Management

The strength of our Project Management team lies in both their vast experience and detailed technical knowledge.

Without exception, all of our key personnel are drawn from the shipbuilding industry or are formerly senior seagoing personnel.

Many of our managers have detailed trade specialisations, allowing these key competences to be brought to that particular aspect of the project. This allows the precise interpretation of technical and statutory information for maximum efficiency.

The ethos of our Project teams is that of engaging in a partnership approach with customers, maximising transparency and co-operation to guarantee efficient project delivery.

Technical Support

Our specialist technical team provides Naval Architecture, Structural, Systems and Mechanical design support to our Project Department; a crucial aspect for the delivery of projects from concept to completion, allowing the yard to offer turnkey design & build projects.

In addition to its design function, Cammell Laird’ team also has considerable experience in novel production engineering methods, in the fields of heavy lifting, heavy transport and installation of large ship sections and equipment.

Cammell Laird is fully ISPS compliant as per the statutory requirements of TRANSEC.

Health and Safety Systems

Cammell Laird give safety the highest priority in corporate governance and operational activities.

We have developed a practical and safe system of work, based around a proactive Permit to Work System.

All safety arrangements satisfy statutory regulations and have been audited and approved on numerous MoD and Offshore Projects.

Quality Assurance & Control

In 2020, the company has renewed its 3 year’ ISO9001 certification for its Management Systems, awarded by LRQA.

Whilst maintaining the fundamental management systems laid down in the Quality plan, the company is flexible in its approach and, working with customers, delivers bespoke packages to the individual customers’ needs- different operators require very different types of reporting and content.

An important measure of our Quality Assurance is reflected in our status as a UK Ministry of Defence approved contractor.
