About Us / Zero to Hero Challenge

Cammell Laird Apprentices are supporting Fairbridge charity based in Liverpool. Fairbridge is a charity, which supports some of the most disadvantaged young people in Merseyside. The charity enables these young people, who have been excluded from school and society, to build the personal, social and life skills they need as a foundation for a life filled with choice and opportunity.

The charity, invited the Apprentices at Cammell Laird to take part in a fund raising event, ‘Zero to Hero’. The principle behind the challenge was that each team would be given a £500 budget, by Fairbridge, to set up an enterprise or fund raising initiative which would add at least one zero to the £500 making it £5000 (or more!).

A number of other companies also took part in the Zero to Hero Challenge including managers from Coutts Bank, the Bibby Group, Grant Thornton amongst others. Cammell Laird Apprentice’s initiative was to print a calendar for 2010 which, has been supported by the Cammell Laird’s supply chain to raise much needed funds for Fairbridge and has been distributed to over 1000 Cammell Laird customers worldwide.

The Apprentices would like to thank all those companies that sponsored the calendar and hope that Fairbridge is able to continue supporting the youth of Merseyside.
